The Respite team in Scottsdale had a wonderful, successful team builder this November. They met the week before Thanksgiving and, with lots of helping hands, managed to make over 500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to take to the homeless.
Staff brought their families and children, and after making all of those sandwiches and putting them in bags, the team and their families went to central Phoenix and distributed the sandwiches and water bottles to the homeless outside of the homeless shelter. It brought the team closer together, as they united to make a difference in the community.
Even the kids were passing out sandwiches and water bottles to the hungry, and they all were gracious in accepting it. Some shared personal stories about their own children. It was a beautiful experience for the entire team. The respite team makes an attempt to do community service as a group a couple of times per year, and this activity is one of the team’s favorite.
Devereux offers Respite services in both Maricopa and Pima Counties. For more information for either location, please contact us.
