Dozens of generous women across Maricopa County spent the last year lovingly handquilting beautiful Christmas stockings for youth and families in Devereux Arizona programs across the state.
The Delightful Quilters group from Scottsdale and the Sundown Quilters group from north Phoenix donated a total of 874 stockings to Devereux Arizona this year! Last week, Devereux staff members attended the groups’ holiday party to collect the stockings and to share information about our programs and the children that benefit from their donation.
Many of the children who will receive these stockings are in foster care, and may have very few material items to call their own. The holidays can also be a difficult time for these children, who are often dealing with the effects of trauma and neglect. Children and families who have received the stockings over the past week were thrilled to have such beautiful items; family members of all ages delighted in choosing stockings in their favorite colors and designs. Thank you quilters for donating these beautiful creations and for your continued support of Devereux Arizona!
